THE MY:CO POD
The MY:CO Pod represents a rebirth in our thinking around urban food production and distribution. The aim is to challenge the current food procurement models of our cities. Using efficiently designed modular farms, in upcycled shipping containers, MY:CO Pods will rewrite the story of second life materials and introduce a new character in the narrative surrounding sustainability for the future of our cities.
WASTE = FOOD
Food is an issue we’re all witness to. If we reimagine how our cities create and distribute food now, with the forethought into how we can deal with the inevitable increase in population, the networks we generate will be stronger and resilient enough to withstand the pressure of that rising demand.
With small scale, interconnected food production networks that can nestle within the heart of our cities, we can produce high quality organic food, with the ability to distribute within hours of harvest. This model can be rolled out across the UK. In doing so, we can reduce the pressures of outsourcing food from other countries. By growing food right where it is consumed, we reduce our reliance on inherently unsustainable food chains and create the fresh, high quality and nutritious food that we all deserve.
We will facilitate workshops and educational programmes around the farm’s activities and create socially inclusive initiatives to empower the community, generating new local economies that are fit for urban futures.
“IN DHARMA, FOOD IS CREATION, THE CYCLE OF LIFE IS A FOOD CYCLE, GOOD FOOD IS MEDICINE, AND THE GROWING AND SHARING OF GOOD FOOD, IN ABUNDANCE, IS THE HIGHEST DUTY.”
